Long’s Park Art & Craft Festival

Nail Down Your Day. Pick Your Shift(s), Tell Us Your Preferred Tasks.

Check your calendar and see which dates and times work best for you. Then review this overview of where we need your help. We’ll work valiantly to get you your chosen assignment—and, if you want, pair you with friends.

These are our new, shorter shifts for the show:

• 9:30 am to 12 noon

• 12 noon to 2:30 pm

• 2:30 pm to 5 pm

But we’ll try to work within any special scheduling issues.

We’re always eager to find folks willing to help out in three special areas marked with a star.

A Word About Kids.
We welcome the next generation of volunteers to experience Long’s Park. If your child or grandchild, ages 14 and older, wishes to assist you in your volunteer role, please let us know, and we'll find you an appropriate assignment.

Thursday, September 2 Options

Set-Up
Set-up our Information Tents, Raffle Tent and Ticket Gates. Stock them with materials. Perform final feats of wonder to get the area ready for our exhibitors and guests.

Friday, September 3 To Monday, September 6 Daytime Options

Raffle Tent—Sell raffle tickets to guests. Answer questions about the raffle and the artwork on display. Provide security for the raffle items.

Creative Kid’s Corner—Working with PA College of Art & Design staff, help children complete one of several predesigned art projects. (Creativity not required!) Try to keep art supplies stocked and the tent in moderately decent order. (This is a Kid’s Corner, remember, so disorder is always lurking.)

Greeter/Ticket Taker—Greet guests as they enter the show and collect their tickets. Direct guests to the mailing list/drawing sign-up tables. Hand out gate catalogs and answer questions.

Ticket Sales—Sell tickets to guests as they enter the show. Direct guests to ticket takers and answer questions. New this year will be giving each guest a free raffle ticket!

Guest Information—Are you a people person? Do you know the area? Then this is the perfect role for you! Answer guest questions like “How do I get out of the park?,” “Can you give us directions to the A-mish country?,” “Where’s a nearby restaurant?,” “What else is there is to do in Lancaster County?”…Here’s your chance to throw out the welcome mat and introduce your hometown to our guests.

Booth Sitter—Give our exhibitor a break by filling in for them at their booths. May also assist with transporting guests purchases to cars. (NOTE: Booth sitter shifts are 11 am to 2 pm and 2 to 5 pm.)

Exhibitor Information—Answer exhibitor questions. Register exhibitor requests for booth sitters. Assist with the transport of guest purchases to their vehicles. Help locate Festival management. (We call this the “Find Amy” assignment.) We’re known across the country as one of the most exhibitor-friendly shows. This is your chance to help us live up to that reputation.

Gate Sitter—Monitor non-public access to the show area and redirect patrons to Ticket Gates. (Sometimes they honestly are confused and not trying to get into the show without paying!)

Volunteer Check-In—Greet volunteers as they arrive. Give directions to assigned booth locations. Keep volunteer refreshment area stocked and answer questions.

“Runner” (don’t panic; “Walker” or “Driver” is more in order)—Run, er, walk errands for guests
and exhibitors and around the Festival. Assist guests by transporting purchases to their vehicles. Deliver supplies and refreshments to other volunteers or resupply retail sites.

Handicapped Parking Director—When requested, direct vehicles to open spaces in the handicapped parking areas. Give other directions as needed. Monday, September 6 After 5 pm Option

Monday, September 6 After 5 pm Option
