A Word About Kids.
We welcome the next generation of volunteers to experience Long’s Park. If your child or grandchild, ages 14 and older, wishes to assist you in your volunteer role, please let us know, and we'll find you an appropriate assignment.

Thursday, August 30 Options

Set-up—Hang signs, deliver equipment, set flags. Stock our Information Tents, Art Raffle Gallery Tent and Ticket Gates with materials. Perform final feats of wonder to get the area ready for our exhibitors and guests.

Friday, August 31 To Monday, September 3 Daytime Options

Art Raffle Gallery—Sell raffle tickets to guests. Answer questions about the raffle and the artwork on display. Provide security for the raffle items.
Creative Kid’s Corner—Working with PA College of Art & Design staff, help children complete one of several predesigned art projects. (Creativity not required!) Try to keep art supplies stocked and the tent in moderately decent order. (This is a Kid’s Corner, remember, so disorder is always lurking.)
Ticket Taker—Collect tickets, tear in half and return half to guest. Scan advance sale tickets. No wristbands!
Ticket Sales—Sell tickets to guests as they enter the show. Direct guests to ticket takers and answer questions.

Guest Information—Are you a people person? Do you know the area? Then this is the perfect role for you! Answer guest questions like “How do I get out of the park?” “Can you give us directions to the A-mish country?” “Where’s a nearby restaurant?” “What else is there is to do in Lancaster County?”…Here’s your chance to throw out the welcome mat and introduce your hometown to our guests.

Booth Sitter—Give our exhibitor a break by filling in for them at their booths. May also assist with transporting guests purchases to cars.

Gate Sitter—Monitor non-public access to the show area and redirect patrons to Ticket Gates. (Sometimes they honestly are confused and not trying to get into the show without paying!)

Volunteer Check-In—Greet volunteers as they arrive and present them with their volunteer badges. Give directions to assigned booth locations. Keep volunteer refreshment area stocked and answer questions.

Pub Supply Attendant—Help keep those thirsty ones hydrated. Must be at least 18 years of age and able to lift, move or carry kegs of beer, cases of wine, water, ice and various supplies. Must also have a driver’s license and ability to operate a golf cart or Kubota.

Bistro Host—Place tablecloths and fresh flowers on tables in the Susquehanna Style Bistro area in the morning and remove flowers at end of day. Welcome guests to the Bistro, answer questions and provide assistance as needed.

“Runner” (“Walker” or “Driver” perhaps more accurate)—Run, er, walk errands for guests and exhibitors around the Festival. Assist guests by transporting purchases to their vehicles. Deliver supplies and refreshments to other volunteers.
Handicapped Parking Director—When requested, direct vehicles to open spaces in the handicapped parking areas. Give other directions as needed.

Monday, September 3 After 5 pm Option
Tear Down—Help disassemble our Pub Tents, Art Raffle Gallery, Gates, etc. getting unused materials and tables back into storage. Fresh energy for this assignment is earnestly sought by those of us who have spent our weekends at the show.
