FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chicago Rockabilly on Tap August 1, 2010 at Long’s Park as The West Side Winders Blow into Town.

LANCASTER, PA -- The final month of the 2010 Long’s Park Summer Music season will open on Sunday, August 1, 2010, with a hot rockabilly group from the Windy City. Retro? Hot blues? Rockabilly? Lounge music on steroids? Or as About Country Music.com called it, “Crispy-fried country-rock?? You decide when the West Side Winders take center stage at the Long’s Park amphitheater at 7:30 pm.

Thanks to the Hilton Garden Inn Lancaster, the West Side Winders will be performing for free on the Long’s Park amphitheater stage.

Sure to have concertgoers lovin’ their lyrics and dancing like there’s no tomorrow, “you haven’t heard rockabilly until you have heard The West Side Winders,” declared Pipes, cohost of Six String Bliss podcast. He promised “rockabilly [with] a modern twist while still keeping true to the legends that came before them.”

As Rockabilly Magazine describes it, founder/creator/songwriter Dan Peters “adds hearty vocals and pens all originals.” It’s this guitarist/vocalist, session man and music educator who “wisely expand[s] soloing beyond the familiar Sun vocabulary and instill[s] remarkable, blast-force trio neo-rockabilly with modern sensibility.”

“The West Side Winders are really hot,” proclaimed ThePlanetWeekly.com. Promised Six String Bliss podcast host, Pipes, “They offer rockabilly a modern twist while still keeping true to the legends that came before them. The West Side Winders offer a totally flawless performance that you will not soon forget.”

The West Side Winders got their start in Chicago as The Sidewinders. Changing their name in 2006, smokin’ lead guitarist Dan Peters is joined by bass guitarist Derek Brand and drummer Kyle Olson. Brand was long time bassist of the respected, Chicago-based Nicholas Tremulis, with whom he toured the world and recorded.

The West Side Winders have played all over the Midwest after wooing crowds with performances three years in a row at the Chicago Blues Festival. Their 2006 album, “Snaken Not Stirred” introduced the group to a national audience. Their tour itinerary has now include the East and West coasts and Europe.

Long’s Park concertgoers are invited to bring picnics, blankets and lawn chairs to the park. A selection of food purveyors will also be in the park, offering a complete meal’s worth of family foods and desserts. Long’s Park is an alcohol-free park.
